- System BIOS: The BIOS of the computer is built-in with routines that perform the actual task of collecting information about the different devices and determining it should use. it then communicates the information to the operating system, so that it can load the appropriate device drivers for the device. PCs having older BIOs such as PCI-based that are produced between 19993 and 1995 do not support PnP.
- The Operating System: Finally, the Operating system should be designed to work with the BIOS (and thus indirectly, with as Hardware as well). Additionally, Operating systems are built-in with drivers of the commonly used devices.
